Day 2 of Summer Camp 2010 was a big success.  At least it seemed like it was.  You never know with 6 year olds.  We started our space shuttles, inspired by a project I found on Deep Space Sparkle.  Patty has the best ideas.  We followed most of her steps, but changed the background a bit.  Instead of orange construction paper, we painted recycled cardboard black and used metallic paint for the sky and gas of the space shuttle.

Here are the samples I hung up on the wall to get the kids pumped.  There were lots of ooohs and ahhhs and the kids love to talk about the subtle differences they noticed in each part.

We did the directive draw and you could hear a pin drop in the room.  It was music to my ears!  Seven five or six year olds totally quiet and engaged.  HEAVEN!  Needless to say, we will be doing a lot more directive draws with this group.  I was shocked they all responded so well.

Here are a couple of results mostly pre-color.
