I love this project! I’ve posted about it before. If you want the step by step directions click here. We made these in kindergarten today for our Thanksgiving tables. I meant for the color choices to be a bit more “fall,” but we didn’t have any brown tissue paper so now they just look festive. The most important thing to remember is to pop the balloons as soon as they feel dry. If you let them sit too long air comes out of the balloons and it all goes down hill quickly from there. The kids loved watching the pop and hearing the crackle of the balloon removing itself from the modge podged tissue paper. So much fun!
how long did it take to dry before you popped the balloons? Mine hasn’t worked.
I let them dry a few hours. I remember the trick was to not let them dry too long so that the balloons deflated at all, otherwise it didn’t work. Does that help at all? You should hear a crackle sound as the balloon removes itself from the paper. What happened for you? Maybe I can try to help?
Thanks for the information, that helps! I didn’t let them dry nearly long enough. I waited only a half hour. Maybe I’ll try again.
Thanks!
Just how sturdy are these bowls? Are they breakable? Could you use them as, say a fruit bowl on the table for bananas, apples, etc or a bowl to thrown your mail in?
You can throw some mail in them for sure. Not fruit, but light things. Hope you give it a try.
Thank you very much for sharing this great idea. I will be trying this with a group of 4-7 year olds in our summer camp and cant wait to see the results.
Blessings to you
