If you are long time fan of my blog, you know I’m Jewish, and usually share a lot of Hanukkah crafts this time of year. Well, I’m changing it up. I’m not turning my back on my heritage or anything, but I am definitely branching out when it comes to holiday crafts. Christmas is just so much fun! So, on my first walk on the wild side, I made these beautiful marbled Christmas ornaments. Keep reading to see how you can make these really pretty holiday decorations with your kids too!

You will need
a small bowl or container you don’t care about, nail polish, christmas ornaments (I used these
but they are way cheaper at Michaels) and an egg carton
**Note** I used the crappiest nail polish on the planet for this. It was my daughter’s super cheap set from who knows where. If you have nice nail polish I think your ornaments will look even prettier.
Start by putting some water in a bowl. Then choose two or three colors of nail polish and drip some in the bowl like you see here.
Take the ornament and dip it into the nail polish. I dipped mine about halfway down. You can dip the whole thing though. The nail polish easily adheres to the ornament. You’ll notice there is almost nothing left in the water when you pick it up. It’s really cool actually.
Once you dip your ornaments you’ll need a place to dry them upside down. I found an egg carton fits them perfectly.
Last step is to hang them from the tree and enjoy them. Little lights would look so pretty inside too.
I’m kind of psyched about my very first ornaments ever. Stay tuned for more Christmas crafts to come. I think I’m hooked. Happy Holidays everybody!
I’d never even be able to tell you used cheap polish because they came out beautifully! I think it’s great you used neon colors versus traditional Christmas colors, looks very modern and fresh!
Thanks Clarissa! Appreciate that. I’m curious just to see the different with nice polish : )
So cool! I love the colors!
My girls love their neon pink and purple nail polish! Thanks Ana!
Meri, they’re both you and yet, Christmas! I love clear glass balls and have experimented in many ways with them but not with polish! I can hardly wait to try!
Thank you Gina! They are so easy and it’s great the way the polish adheres the balls. These one are plastic actually and cheap! Thanks for reading along my friend!
These are so nice! Kids will love to do it! Do you think it will work with plastic ornaments?
Ciao! Stefy
Yes! These are plastic! Did I forget to mention that? Ok, I’ll go change it. Have fun!!!
I think it is a neat idea and I’m impressed that you did that with nail polish and a glass ornament!
I had no idea that it was so easy to make your own custom Christmas ornaments with just a few materials. I think that it would be fun to make some ornaments with my kids so that they can be creative. A fun thing about ornaments is that the same ones get used every year, so in ten years my kids will be able to see what they made when they were younger.
How about adding glitter??
