Check it out! Last week I cleared out the playhouse and turned it into a ribbon fun house. I swear, this took me maybe 20 minutes to do. It’s so easy! And obviously you don’t have to have a playhouse to do this. Any doorway or entryway will work just fine. See the how to below and check out this hilarious video. The kids absolutely loved it.

What you’ll need…
Materials
Ok, so this is really really easy.
Step 1
The first step is to lay out a piece of masking tape as wide as you need it, sticky side up. Cut long pieces of flagging tape (which comes in the best colors ever and can be found at any hardware store) and place them an inch or so apart on the tape.
Step 2
Place a piece of masking tape directly over the sticky side to secure in the flagging tape in place. Flagging tape isn’t sticky. It’s made of plastic and feels really smooth and light to the touch. It’s awesome and it doesn’t wrinkle. You can take down your ribbon strip, store it for a while and then bust it back out and all the wrinkles will go away after it hangs for a bit. It’s so cool.
Now I realize not everyone has a an art playhouse to turn into a ribbon fun house, but I bet you have a doorway that you can do this on. It would actually be a really fun entryway for a bedroom, at least temporarily or maybe for a birthday. Bring it out year after year.
These kids loved the playhouse makeover so much they even had snack inside in the midst all the ribbons.
Everyone really enjoyed it. Some kids ran through while others walked around and around.
My super sensory girls couldn’t’ get enough.
They were in and out and in and out having the best time.
To see more of our play group in action check out this post called toddler play group 101. Thanks for reading along everyone and hope you’re enjoying your summer!
Hi Meri, Have you cleared your art shed out permanently or just short term? Did the girls lose interest?
I turned our wooden cubby into art shed due your post and my children love it! We have used a light box inside, even strands of roses with led light. They love having their own area avail anytime for creative arts. We have also installed two dot it led lights over their tables.
I have done this ribbon activity for a birthday party in rows to dance in and out of with balloons dangling further down….hung them from the rafters in the carport. The children had such fun too. I have repeated this in smaller ways since and it is always a hit.
Thanks for ideas. Keep them coming
Regards
Urith
Hi Urith! Wow, I’m so excited about all the great things your doing. Thanks so much for reading my blog!!! I didn’t clear it out permanently though we did take some paintings down to add some layers and hang them up in our house. The ribbons have been so much fun. Love the balloon idea and imagining the ribbons from the rafters. So cool! Thanks again. xo Meri
We tried this one and my daughter loved it! Big hit. She likes hiding behind all of the ribbons then peeking out and saying hi. Thanks for the fun idea!
oh i’m sooo happy to hear this! YAY!!! Thanks for letting me know!
