It’s challenge time and I invite you all to come along with me. Are you familiar with Invitations to Play? Basically, an invitation to play is an engaging activity of any kind, set up for your children ahead of time, that they can explore and create with. I’ve challenged myself to come up with 30 awesome Invitations to Play in 60 days. I figure two months gives me enough time for some that aren’t so great, plus a little time to slack off. Who’s with me?
We’ll be using the hashtag…

I used to do invitations to play all the time (check out 5 Invitations to Play for Toddlers and 10 Simple Invitations to Play for Toddlers) but kind of fell of the invitation bandwagon. Well, I’m back and on a mission because these invitations can be so worthwhile for kids. They offer the freedom to create, problem solve, make important decisions, build gross and fine motor skills and learn, learn, learn.
You can go back into your instagram archives and tag any great invitations you’ve already tried and then start sharing some new ones. I will feature different awesome ideas as we go on my instagram feed and on my facebook page.
RULES
Anything goes for the invitations to play. They can be for any age too. Mine will probably be arty but you can do any kind you want. Get creative and have fun! I’d love to see what you come up with. Tag your friends on IG who you think might want to participate too. It’s a community thang. Let’s have fun and learn from each other. Here’s one of my favorites inspired by An Everyday Story.
When the two months are complete I’ll compile the best 30 ideas and put them together for all of us as a present and reference. Stay tuned and make sure you’re following me on Instagram. Here’s a little peek at my feed. Lots of crafty goodness and behind the scenes artsy fartsy stuff.
If you can’t wait and are all, “I need 30 awesome ideas right now Meri Cherry!!!” Well, don’t worry, Megan from The Art Pantry has you covered. Here are 30 Invitations to Create that she put together after years of teaching art to kids and each one has a pic and simple directions to go with it. Megan totally knows what she’s talking about and I highly recommend this list of art focused ideas. If you’re ready for some inspiration right now, do it, do it, do it.
In the meantime, see you on Instagram. Say hello. Don’t be shy. Share your ideas and have fun! xo Meri
