Lately I’ve been receiving the most wonderful emails from readers that have tried different projects I’ve posted over the years. Since our self portrait shadow boxes are perhaps my very favorite art project for kids, I thought I’d share these pics with all of you. Maybe you’ll be inspired to give this idea a try. I created this project for a class I taught 3 years ago called Art Adventures. It was based on the idea that the 3 and 4 year olds were going to take adventures all around the world and they needed a passport. The shadow boxes acted as their passports. You can get the full tutorial here and here.
Thank you Dottie Zimmerman for sending these wonderful pics of her daughter’s preschool trying out the self portrait shadow boxes. All the students did a fantastic job!
If you like this project and want to learn more Reggio Inspired processes, check out my ebook, Art Secrets Every Teacher Should Know…A Reggio Inspired Approach. It’s very much in alignment with this type of work. Thank you!!
